Freundeskreis des Sächsischen Landesgymnasium Dresden e.V.
There comes special fascination from children and young people making music. When you watch them at seriously and committedly acquiring and interpreting works of all musical epochs while combining technical abilities with youthful energy and enthusiasm for playing music, it leaves you with a lasting impression.
Considering the fact that besides the musical education the students have to deal with the entire school curricular content it is getting obvious what an extensive daily routine is to be managed.
The Freundeskreis, that has been existing as a registered non-profit association since 1992, has set itself the task of supporting the varied school life at Sächsisches Landesgymnasium für Musik in a spiritual and material way. Therefore, the complete amount of money basically raised with membership fees and donations is directed straight to the school and its students. We continue helping when state-based support is limited.
Supported fields and activities are for example:
▫ chamber music courses
▫ choir rehearsal weekends
▫ the International Dotzauer Competition
▫ the Musikpodium Dresden – Venice
▫ traditional school and boarding house celebrations
▫ international school exchanges

Amongst other things the Freundeskreis funds:
▫ the expense allowances for necessary assistants at concerts of the Young Symphonic Orchestra
▫ rewards and keepsake presents for school graduates.
Additionally, it helps in cases of social hardship by
▫ granting selective financial support and regular scholarships
▫ purchasing instruments that can be borrowed for free.
On the whole, the Freundeskreis supports a lot of other projects and events which make school life varied and likeable, but at the same time cause considerably high costs.
Numerous friends of our grammar school from near and far, parents
of today’s students’ generation, teachers, musicians, former students and their family members, but also persons who simply like music and have a love of young people´s education at this special school, have already become members of our support association. Perhaps you would also like to join the supporters’ community for an annual fee of 35 euros.
